This creates the near-miss tension that keeps the brain engaged. It doesn’t need to be hard; it needs to be unexpected.

3. Track “Checks Completed,” Not “Minutes Logged”

Change your own success metric. If you’re tracking your habits, stop measuring time spent and start measuring the number of discrete cognitive decisions made.
